Shave and a Haircut…

I was sorting through the rad-iculous accumulation of images on my computer and came across a few “artsy” snaps of Tony getting a very clean 1950s style haircut (a colossal shift from his asymmetrical/rat tail choppings of usual). We were in New York briefly this past May for two dear friends’ destination wedding (a unique celebration with a picnic “reception” in Central Park near the lake; done up right with striped blankets and picnic baskets containing sandwiches from Dean & Deluca). Part of the festivities of this N.Y.-centric matrimony was an evening at a hidden bar fashioned after the style and surrender of a 1920s establishment – The Blind Barber. The bar is located behind an operating barbershop for men. The specialty drinks are crafted to the adventurous palate with nods to old fashioned mixes. I was a big fan of the Hot Heather (Corralejo Tequila, ginger, agave, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon) which I kept wanting to call the Hot Bother. Take a look at Tony in the barber’s chair, apparently, after some small chitchat revealed, being shorn by the bassist for Santogold and me… “Me, I’m a creator, thrill is to make it up, the rules I break got me up on the radar…” I snuck myself into a few pics using the magic of mirrors.
