Now That You’re 30

My brother reached 30 years this past week and I’m of the mind that such milestones should be properly commemorated…with a goofy themed present. Think multiples when ya wanna give big. I went with the theme of growing older = growing wiser and packaged up a few items to remind him of what he should be better at doing now that his twenties are in the dust. In the brown paper bag with the spooky postcard of a young face coming through a geezer’s mug, I placed the following: Top Hat – to represent “Dressing Sharper”, Book of Word Puzzles – “Solving Problems”, Bunch of Kale – “Eating Healthy”, and finally (the true gift) One Run For Your Lives Runner Voucher – homemade gift certificate, mind you, since the race date hasn’t been announced for Colorado 2014 yet – to represent “Surviving”. My sister, her hubby, and I participated in this past summer’s Run For Your Lives race (which involves dodging zombies intent on ripping flags from your waist). It was the most belly laughing messy fun event of the season so we pledged to bring the whole family back next year (also, protection in numbers). And, heck, every newly inducted 30 year old should learn the value of surviving a world overrun by mindless crazies out for blood.
